Start with size, not just looks
We group our puppies by the size they grow into. These are some of the breeds you will often find with us:
- Toy: Toy Poodle, Toy Pomeranian, Maltese and Maltipoo. Tiny, affectionate and well suited to flats.
- Small: Shih Tzu. A cheerful companion with a long coat that needs regular grooming.
- Medium: Beagle, Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, American Cocker Spaniel and English Bulldog. Friendly family dogs with more energy to burn.
- Large: Labrador and Golden Retriever. Gentle, loyal and active, they need daily walks and room to stretch.
- Giant: the biggest breeds, for homes with plenty of space and time for training.

Ask yourself before you choose
- Space: a flat suits toy and small breeds best; large breeds need more room and outdoor time.
- Time: how long will your puppy be alone each day? Puppies need company, play and training.
- Grooming: long coats like the Shih Tzu and Maltese need regular brushing and a monthly salon visit.
- Budget: plan for food, vaccinations, vet check-ups, grooming and tick protection, not just the puppy itself.
Your starter checklist

- Puppy food suited to your breed's size and age, and food and water bowls
- A collar or harness, a leash and an ID tag
- A comfortable bed or crate for a calm sleeping spot
- Chew toys, which save your shoes and furniture during teething
- Puppy shampoo, a comb or brush, and pee pads for toilet training
- Tick and flea protection, after checking with your vet
The first few weeks
Book a check-up at our Nerul clinic in the first days, so our veterinarian can set your puppy's vaccination and deworming schedule. Keep the first grooming visit gentle and positive, and introduce new people, sounds and places slowly, one at a time.
